Listen to your Veterinarian's advice. If you want to go see a specialist you can. I work at an animal hospital and the best advice I can give you is to not drag the dogs life out if its starts to go down hill. That may seem harsh but I see people spend thousands of dollars putting there poor dogs through hell. As long as the dog is doing OK then keep going. Just think also of all the dogs that are euthanized because no one will adopt them, keep that in mind before you spend thousands of dollars trying to save a dog who has an incurable disease. Its great that you love your dog so much, you sound like someone who really deserves to have a dog, so I wish you luck with whatever decisions you make.
