Can I hitchhike with a bike?

I'm trying to get from Evansville, IN to Austin, TX with a bike. I'm a young clean, and clean shaven male traveling alone. Would a trucker at a truck stop be likely to take me? I don't know how much spare room they tend to have and whatnot.
