Why did my husband have to ?

Ok i only want serious and non judgmental answers from wives in or have been in serious committed relationships and husbands that have been in this situation. So the night started off real good. My husband and i were having a great evening after two years of not having any alcohol my husband got a little bit tipsy after a king Cobra and a half a gl of a mudslide. He knew i was "in the mood" and wanted to have some good (i gladly take it in all three holes) but he wanted to shower real fast since he had just gotten off work a couple hours before and i had to throw a load of laundry in upstairs at my dads house. So when i went upstairs for a few minutes he started to . Okay so i get back down and walk in the front door i guess he didn't hear me cause the bathroom door was closed and the shower was on and i walk into the bathroom and he was , he jumped up and i said what the hell are you doing? He was like.. . So i just closed the bathroom door and went into the living room. When he got out of the shower i was a little pissy with him but not really and didn't even bring up the . Then he said are you seriously mad about that?? And i was like you knew i wanted to **** and so you ?? He told me he had to do it cause he had a little to drink and didn't want to *** all quick if we had so he had to first.. is this a load of crap or was he really telling me the truth?
