Help with expensive medications.?

My wife is uninsured, she has epilepsy which has prevented us from finding suitable and affordable insurance for her with our limited resources. I have just been notified that I am to be laid off for a month due to slow down of the construction industry. Our problem is that I am the only one able to work, and since I have temporarily lost my job I will not be bringing in enough to pay for the medicine my wife needs. Is there some type of help in this area available to ensure that she still receives the medicines she needs? We are located in Alabama. I have already looked at the other benefits and we have found that we will be ok on everything except the medicine.
